download1

For many years my book was only downloadable by individual chapter. Many users found that cumbersome and asked me to combine the chapters into one download. So I have done that and now anyone can download the entire book as one complete unit.

All that you have to do is to complete the form at the bottom of the home page.

In addition to being able to download the book, you will also receive updates about my future podcast that I will be launching to provide additional free support for agoraphobia sufferers.

If you download my book and it helps you, please come back and leave a comment to encourage others to take their first steps, or to persevere with the teachings of Dr. Weekes.

I wish you determination, action, commitment, and perseverance so that you too will achieve a complete recovery.

Agoraphobia book translation
With this website, I encourage sufferers who are actively using the Dr. Weekes method to recover.
My free book has for many years consistently helped English speaking agoraphobia agoraphobics all over the world. However, I am often contacted by those who speak other languages, and it frustrates me to have to tell them that I can’t communicate with them.
Therefore, I am now on a mission to make my book available to non-English speakers by translating it into other languages.
This is an expensive project, but one which can be achieved with your support and without any additional cost to you.
If my book helped you in any way to discover Dr Weekes and her teachings and to recover from agoraphobia, then please visit my support page to see the different ways that you can help me to reach and help foreign language sufferers.
Thank you.

 Medical Professionals Directory

Directory of Medical ProfessionalsAgoraphobia and panic attack sufferers often ask me if I know of any medical professionals that they can consult to support them.

I always encourage them to try to locate those who have read Peace From Nervous Suffering by Dr. Claire Weekes, or the book that she wrote especially for medical professionals, Agoraphobia – Simple Effective Treatment.

Of course, the holy grail of support is to find a medical professional who has read her books and who also has experience in helping sufferers using her recovery method.

Understandably, this is not an easy task for a sufferer. Interviewing medical professionals can be a daunting and expensive challenge, especially for someone who is struggling with the travel constraints of agoraphobia.

To help out, I am therefore researching and building a worldwide directory of medical professionals who meet the above criteria.

My medical professionals directory is a project that will be ongoing, and will be left to my heirs to maintain after my passing. For it to be successful, I am going to need all the help that I can get and so would be most grateful for any assistance from readers of my blog and book.

If you know of any medical professionals who have the above experience, please let me have their names and email addresses so that I can add them to my directory.

Who was Dr. Claire Weekes?

Dr. Claire Weekes

Dr. Claire Weekes

In 1973, I was at a point in my life where I believed that I had become insane. What was going in my mind, and what I was experiencing in my world, was indescribably terrifying. Worst of all, I felt totally alone, cut off from the real world, and in a place where I believed no other person had ever been. I believed that there was no one who understood what had and was happening to me, the terror that I was experiencing, or who could tell me what I had to do to regain my sanity. Then I discovered Dr. Claire Weekes and realized how very wrong I was.

Agoraphobia fear does not like to be watched.

Agoraphobia fear
As an agoraphobia sufferer, whenever I left my home, I was aware of the ultimate big panic that was looming in the background, just waiting for the right moment to overwhelm me. The distance between me and my home felt like a block of space between us.

It was always an uncomfortable, background feeling that just would not go away and, as a result, interfered with whatever I was doing. The feeling was blended together with my vague, imagined ultimate panic experience, which I always felt was just waiting to pounce. Cowering away from it was my natural response. I was always just hoping and praying that the panic would not come, or that I would be able to cross the distance back to safety before I became overwhelmed by the fear.

agoraphobia help

I recently received this email: “I am having a great difficulty with agoraphobia and i cant find the courage to face it. I cant even imagine driving to another town or walking to the shops alone. Is it ok to begin exposure with someone else beside me? I don’t have the courage to do what you did. Its too much to just take my car and drive far away and to want to have a panic attack.”

This was my response:

Agoraphobia first step

I am often contacted by sufferers who say that they have tried every possible way to break free from agoraphobia, but seemed always to end up against a brick wall. They tell me about the multiple professionals that they have consulted, medications that they have taken, therapies that they have tried and advice that they have taken from friends and family, yet agoraphobia continues to cripple their lives.

They may have read my story and or one or more of Dr. Weekes’s books, but are still hoping to find the magic cure to avoid having to take the recommended action.

In this video, the late Dr. Claire Weekes talks about how her technique is different to the advice that,  at the time when she developed it, was given by psychiatrists to patients suffering from agoraphobia, and how her experience as a scientist helped to develop it.

In this video, Dr. Weekes explains how and why to develop utter acceptance of all the unpleasant, uncomfortable  and strange symptoms of sensitization. If this is your stumbling block to recovery, as it is for so many trying to recover from agoraphobia, then please listen to this recording as many times as you are able to.

arius Smook - Agoraphobia

Those of you who have been in contact with me over the years will be familiar with my old website which I created about ten years ago, and on which I have always offered my book for anyone to download and read for free. I was privileged to be able to support agoraphobia suffers by introducing them to books published by the late Dr. Weekes and sharing my experience using her method to recover.  In addition, I am now building a database of medical professionals all over the world, all of whom have experience using the Dr Weekes method and can provide individual support. Please subscribe below to my email list to be notified when this resource is available.

All of the books published by Dr. Weekes can be found here, as well as links to audio clips of her speaking and video clips that other supporters and her family members have put together on YouTube.com to promote her teachings and methods.

This new website and blog also makes it possible for you to comment and ask questions, as well as for me to publish my answers for the benefit of others who are also fighting their way back to recovery.

So if you are an agoraphobia sufferer, please get started or continue with your journey to recovery by either reading my book for free on this website or by buying and reading those written by Dr. Weekes or any of the other complimentary and supportive books that I have found useful and have recommended.

For more information, please read my blog post: Who was Dr. Claire Weekes?
